NOTICE: National Headquarters has recently changed the Communications Training and Certification to a new ICUT – Introductory Communications User Training. The previous ACUT and BCUT certifications are no longer being offered.
In additional to traditional classroom delivery by an instructor, you now have the option of taking training on-line through video delivery and testing. Previous ACUT holders can fast-track their training by taking and passing the “OP1” section consisting of three videos and corresponding tests. It is highly recommended that you also take the T1 and OP2 sections.
If you don’t possess an ACUT now, you need to take and pass the OP1, T1, and OP2 sections.
The T1 and OP2 sections require an evaluation sign-off by a communications staff member who has passed ICUT and are SET certified. T1 covers proper communications techniques as regulated by CAPR 100-3 and demonstrated in the videos. OP2 covers the operation of our radio sets, such as navigating the zone assignments and also demonstrated in the videos.
Links to communications manuals, testing links, the ICUT SQTR, and evaluation forms can be found at the MD Wing Communications section on Document and Regulations. Detailed information can be found at section 5.2 of CAPR 100-1 3 AUGUST 2012.
If you have any questions, please contact your Squadron or Group II Communications Officer – Lt Col Jim Schmidt
The nation-wide CAP communication system has 840 high-frequency radio stations, 5,000 fixed-land radio stations and 10,000 mobile radios, deployed in CAP units in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
